Learner Support Team

At Newcastle Sixth Form College, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Our Learner Support Team (LST) plays an essential role in achieving this goal by providing tailored assistance to students with a wide range of different needs.

Learning Support Team (LST) - Target Team

We want every student to succeed, and the LST supports students with diverse needs. The team works with students who have:

Dyslexia
Dyspraxia
Autism Spectrum Disorder
ADHD/ADD
Mental Health difficulties
Visual Impairments
Hearing Impairments
Physical difficulties
Medical conditions
Temporary disabilities

Care experienced learners

We are devoted to assisting all students in realising their potential and offering them all the support they require to complete their A-Levels and progress on to successful career paths. As a college, we provide the following support for care-experienced students:

Key contact to support from the application onwards
Additional 1:1 with your personal development coach
PEP meetings with your coach or CES link
Support from a Care Leavers Covenant CES coordinator link
UCAS guidance

Councelling

Newcastle Sixth Form College has a dedicated counsellor available for all students who need a confidential space to discuss any difficulties they may be experiencing.

The counsellor can also advise agencies external to the Sixth Form that can provide additional student support. Sessions usually occur by pre-arranged appointment and are every week unless you request otherwise.
