What is Personal Development

When you join Newcastle Sixth Form College, you'll be automatically paired with your own Personal Development Coach (PDC). They will be with you throughout your time at NSFC, providing a regular point of contact outside your subject classes to support your overall growth, wellbeing, and success.

What do the weekly group sessions entail

These sessions are designed to foster your development through engaging activities led by your PDC, covering key areas such as:

  • Personal growth and resilience
  • Academic skills and strategies
  • Wellbeing and mental health
  • Future planning (UCAS, apprenticeships, jobs)
  • Goal-setting and vision
  • Employability skills (CV writing, interview prep)
  • Digital literacy and staying safe online
  • British Values and social awareness
  • During these sessions, you'll be encouraged to participate actively, share your experiences, and develop skills that will benefit you both at college and in the broader world.

Focus on Time Management and Wellbeing

A vital part of our PDCs’ role is supporting you in maintaining punctuality and attendance and managing your workload effectively. This helps ensure you get the most out of your college experience and sets you up for success beyond NSFC.

What is a 1:1 Session

Your 1:1 session with your PDC is essential to your personal and academic growth. It’s a confidential space to discuss progress, voice concerns, and explore plans. These meetings often have a positive impact, helping you reflect on your achievements and identify areas for development.

Your PDC will also review attendance, punctuality, and conduct to keep you on track. This personalised support ensures a smooth transition into college life, helps you stay motivated, and maximises your potential to achieve outstanding results.
