Maths in context (Core Maths) is an excellent opportunity to study maths alongside your A levels and is available for those students who are not taking A level Mathematics.
You will have the opportunity to study areas of maths within various interesting contexts.

Maths in Context allows you to gain valuable UCAS points towards your university application.
The subject improves students’ mathematical knowledge to help them with their A level subjects.
What can you expect from this A level?
The subject will be delivered in three hours of lessons per week. You will study various areas of maths you may already be familiar with such as probability, correlation, statistics. This programme places Maths in a world context to encourage application of learning.
You will also be introduced to new areas such as linear programming which is useful for optimising profits within businesses.
What can you do with a qualification in this subject?
The subject helps with university applications and provides up to 28 additional UCAS points depending on your grade. Maths in context is a highly desirable subject for university applications.
Assessment
The subject has two 1 hour 40 minute exams.
The first paper is comprehensions and the second applications.
